Exactly, its not possible by using only hamachi, but it IS possible by using Hamachi in combination with mIRC. Read along to find out!
This is the place where you can find all that is necessary to be able to play Age of Empires III, The Warchiefs and The Asian Dynasties through Hamachi. The links you will find below point to all the software, game patches, tools and instructions you need.
You only have to follow the 4 easy steps and you are ready to join the channel with ALL AOE III Hamachi players and play Age of Empires III in an easy and comfortable way!

1. Of course you need to get Hamachi:
Hamachi is a VPN (Virtual Private Network) software with which you are able to play multiplayer games with all the other online players here. Download Hamachi from the official site.

2. Now, Hamachi works quite nice, but .....
Hamachi is the best VPN software for playing online games like this, but it has one weakness, there is a maximum number of players that can join into one network (about 15). Because of the many players who want to play with eachtother but are not online at the same time, many networks will be created, with in most networks almost the same people (recognize it?).... You get the point, it gets a little messy, without overview and you miss out some playerss because they dont know you or your network, or it happens to be full or, .... So? What will we do?

The solution is a small program called: *** mIRC ***.
mIRC is a chat program that supports many people in each chatroom. It is therefore possible for all AOE III Hamachi players to be together in ONE place, easily communicating with each other in ONE channel (or "network"). The channel for all AOE III Hamachi players has already been created (see the guide below on how to connect), and YOU are invited to join. It is not necessary anymore to be in 100 Hamachi networks. Each day adding new networks which become full the next day. NO! If the whole AOE III Hamachi community is united with one single means of communication, you will not need any more than ONE single network for the match that you are playing at the moment. Having many Hamachi networks open while connected will slow down your PC, your GAME, and your INTERNET. This is not the case with mIRC!

3. Third, make sure you have the games fully updated:

Since the official studios closed down a while ago and no longer develop new patches, bug fixes and balances, the expert Age Of Empires III players of the community AgeSanctuary created and develop new patches, with good results so far!

4. And last but not least, almost everyone is playing this game with an image and a program to mount it, so you will too :)
You need to get Deamon Tools to mount the images. Download it here from the official site and install it.
You can download the 3 images (AOE III basic, TWC, TAD) here. It's in .zip, so you need something like WinRar to open and unzip it before you can run the installation.
