Getting Started with mIRC (AOE3)

The following guide will show you step by step how you can get started with mIRC in only a few minutes.

Before you can start using mIRC, you will first need to download and install it.

When you launch the program, a window will pop out automatically. If it asks you to register or something for an official account, ignore it and press cancel.

The next window you will see is the Connect window below which you can use to connect to IRC. Enter any random fake name and email adress. Then choose a nickname and alternative nickname that your friends know you by in hamachi.

e
After this go one step down in the menu on the left onto Servers like you see in the picture below. In the IRC Server: window find and choose the QuakeNet folder, and then choose "QuakeNet: Random server". Then click Select.

e

This will bring up the first window that you saw. Just press Connect and it should connect you to the QuakeNet server.

e

Once you have connected to a server, your mIRC Favorites window will pop up. This window stores a list of your favorite channels and allows you to join them quickly and easily.

Now you need to join the #aoe3.hamachi channel, and you can do this by typing /join #aoe3.hamachi in the QuakeNet window and clicking Enter. Now you're connected and you're ready to chat.

e
e

The next step is to add this channel to your favorites so you join automatically everytime you start IRC. Click the red heart in your toolbar to open your favorites menu.

e

Type #aoe3.hamachi into the field and then click Add.

e

Here you should check the Join on connect box, and then click OK.

e

Here are some more options you might want to check out.

e

All you're left with is making IRC look good by changing the fonts and the colors.

If you have any questions, or you need any help, talk to miKe or Veni, Vidi, Vici in Hamachi or mIRC. Good luck and have fun!
